Election fever

This video encourages the people of Egypt to go to the elections. The song is catchy and I love the colorful video. I heard it over and over again the past couple of days: in busses, cars, on TV and radio, and on the street.

By now it is clear that Gen. Abdel Fattah el Sissi has won the elections with more than 90% of the votes. This doesn't mean that everybody is supporting him (see photo below) but I really do hope that people stop complaining now and take this chance to rebuild Egypt, to bring stability and prosperity to all the citizens.

You can't have a rainbow without a little rain

So... whar's up with the weather lately? Before it used to rain once every 9 years in Hurghada, and this year we've already had two storms in the last three months! Although I find it lovely (and) refreshing, I am afraid the roads and buildings in Egypt are not ready for it (yet).

up: 5 min of rain in Sekkala, Hurghada, two weeks ago
down: storm last Wednesday evening -the road from El Gouna to Hurghada was flooded again

Teenager at home

^ This week I got to know a part of A.'s family: his cousin was transferred from Sharm el Sheikh to Hurghada and his half-brother is living in our building now. A.'s sister in Cairo couldn't handle him anymore so he had to go to the capital and bring him here.
^ 17 years ago: A., his half-brother A. (cute, right?), and their dad
^ A. and his family in Alexandria (he is the boy sitting on the right)
^My sister, grandma and mam, and an old school photo of A. (he is the second one from the right, wearing a dark blue pull-over)
