Home in the making

A little appartment tour. Step by step, it's getting more cozy and more "us". Looking forward to go to Belgium tomorrow and browse in Blokker, Casa, IKEA (my favorite stops for interior decoration). I'm gonna miss this place for 2 weeks, but A. will stay here to take care of it :)

Don't worry about money. Money can't buy love.

Weekend: waking up for coffee and then go back to sleep.
Flowers, candles, and parfume oil for cozy evenings

La Pomme surprise by A. because he is a sweetheart and De Strooper cookies by Thomas Cook Belgium because I helped them with their teambuilding.
Carpets cleaned by the laundry and they look like new.

Winter time

While I was still sweating ten days ago in 32°C, the first snow in Cairo in more than 100 years has officially welcomed the winter in Egypt. We found this beautiful furry snow ball in our bed room some days ago :) and today I went Christmas shopping with C. I am very happy I have one pair of boots and a warm coat here. I couldn't imagin I would need them but really... elhamdulilah.

Dag Martine

I love Egypt so much.
(on a totally different note: when A. was watching the Belgian news with me tonight, he said: "Hi Martine, alles goed? Allez Martine, alstublieft!" I am so proud of him and his talent for languages.)

Ho ho ho

Last Saturday, C. invited me over at her cozy apartment to bake Advent/Christmas cookies. I wasn't really in the Christmas mood yet (it's still 29-30°) but her enthusiasm was addictive. She had decorated her place very nicely, put Christmas music on (and later the German radio), and we had such a great afternoon together. I am really grateful that I met her, it's like we've always been friends. And when we were silently working together as a great team (she mainly baked, I mainly decorated), I felt really happy and at home.

TGIF

Felt a bit like Cuba: the car of the taxi driver must have been more than 50 years old. It was still driving though... slowly.
Maybe I go back next week to buy the sweater with the awesome zipper...surprise!

 A. picked us up at Spinneys and we ate pizza together. Inside this time, as there was too much wind outside.
C.'s husband was in Cairo so we made it extra romantic haha.

Thank God for Fridays :)

Groceries

When you go to Dahar, down-town, you can buy really fresh chicken, and get served by a woman in a burka in little shops full of washing powder, soda, candy, and more. Always an experience.
