Thai massage

According to A. it is normal that my back looked completely blue and bruised the next day because I have chickenmeat... Don't think it is my cup of tea.

25th January

The third anniversary of the first Egyptian revolution was not only celebrated on Tahrir Square (dixit Martine Tanghe on the Belgian news). From our appartment, we could hear people celebrating in Sheraton Street, and see the fireworks. A. and me are happy there is a second revolution as we weren't together during the first one. We got a second chance, and Egypt too, elhamdulilah. Now it is our task to make the best of it, enjoy it, and make it last.

-ps: the song of the 30th of June revolution
-ps 2: my personal opinion, in case anyone is interested: if General Sisi doesn't take part in the presidential elections, he will be a hero for ever.

At the butcher

Because it is not healthy to only eat chicken and fish, A. went to the butcher for a change and ordered some nice fresh meat. I was lucky enough to watch the whole scene as A. parked the car right in front of it. Quote of Mr. A.: "Don't you think it's funny how Egyptian shopkeepers put shoes behind windows but they don't even cover meat?".
The little son of the shopkeeper was a hard and concentrated worker. Do you notice the white cat, waiting patiently for some meat to fall from the table? [I had to close the car window at this stage because the fat was splashing around]
Then the shopkeeper stepped in for the harder work. When a piece of the meat fell on the floor, he just picked it up and put it in a plastic bag with the rest. That's how they roll. Bon appétit.

Allez hup!

While A. is working on his health by playing football (diving center against aqua center), I try to be more careful in the food department. During the match, my sweet friend C. and me are watching from the sideline to support our men (i.e. chatting, drinking tea and coffee, snacking, and having to ask which team won in the end).

(Maybe it's time to invest in a camera that takes good pictures in the dark...)

New constitution

"We are all with you, Egypt"

Let us hope the new constitution will lead to more stability and a regime that puts the well-being of the Egyptian people first!

Saturday traditions

Things I have always loved so much: going to the supermarket with my mam and grandmam, and drinking tea at my grandma's kitchen. It would have been lovely if we could continue this weekly tradition but then I tell myself: if I had moved to another city in Belgium, this wouldn't have been possible neither. Unfortunately though, I really enjoy it!
